What Y2Meta does
Y2Meta is a free online tool that saves YouTube videos as MP4 video files or MP3 audio files. It runs in your browser, so it works on phones, tablets and computers without any app.
We built it to be clear and quick: paste a link, see what you can save, choose, and download. There are no accounts, no extra steps and no software to install.
The tool is for personal use, such as keeping a lesson for later, saving your own uploads or listening to a talk on the go. Please only save videos you have the right to save.
How it works
Saving a file takes three short steps:
- Copy the link of a YouTube video or Short.
- Paste it into the box on the Y2Meta home page.
- Choose MP4 or MP3 and tap a quality to download it.
Formats and qualities
Videos can be saved as MP4 from 144p up to 1080p, depending on what each video offers. Audio can be saved as MP3 from 64 up to 320 kbps. Every MP4 option shows its file size before you download.
Shorts work too. Their MP4 keeps the vertical shape, and you can save their sound as MP3 like any other video.
Honest limits
We prefer to be clear about what the tool does not do:
- The highest video quality is 1080p.
- Download links work for a few hours. If one stops working, paste the video link again.
- Only public videos can be saved.
- A playlist link saves one video, not the whole list.
- The service can be busy at times. If that happens, try again a moment later.
Made for phones
Most people use Y2Meta on a phone, so every screen is designed for small displays first. The buttons are large, the quality list is easy to read, and each file opens with a single tap.
